Tax Help Montana Needs Volunteer Preparers
January 12, 2007
Tax Help Montana, a free income tax service for residents earning less than $39,000, needs volunteers. The annual program operates free tax preparation sites throughout the state, including a site in Billings. "The program works because of dedicated volunteers. We are very fortunate each year to have community members step up and help others. This program not only provides free tax service but offers qualifying citizens additional services that they might not otherwise know about. Volunteers are critical," said Mayor Ron Tussing. Volunteers undergo training to become IRS certified tax preparers, and then dedicate whatever time they choose to the program. The volunteer training class date for Billings has been rescheduled due to a lack of volunteers and will occur within the next two weeks. Interested volunteers should contact Karen Heisler or Katherine LaBeau, at 1.800.ASK.CCCS (1.800.275.2227) or visit www.montanafreefile.org for more information.
