A Debt Management Plan (DMP) allows you to regain control of your financial situation while reducing the stresses of your debts.
The DMP is a VOLUNTARY debt repayment program designed to help both you and your creditors. CCCS acts as a mediator between you and your creditors, often negotiating reduced payments and/or finance charges. Some creditors even eliminate fees. By working within each creditor’s guidelines, we can develop a repayment schedule that will allow you to pay both your living expenses and debts.
You will make one monthly payment to us and we pay those creditors you place in the DMP. We will also communicate with your creditors, often reducing collection calls to your home and work. You will be asked to live within your means, following the budget and action steps developed during your counseling session. We also ask that you stop using credit unless you receive prior approval from your counselor. This includes cutting up all of your credit cards.
Our budgeting suggestions will have you living within your income, your budgeting actions will make the plan work. While we work side-by-side to help you manage your finances, you are still responsible for your accounts. You will need to keep us updated with current statements and any changes in your financial status.
Payments will be due at the same time every month using a cashier's check, money order, or automatic withdrawal (ACH) from your bank account. Clients missing two consecutive payments will be dropped from the DMP, and creditors will be notified.
